1939 Corona Standard

I got excited when I saw this Smith-Corona Standard on auction with original manual and more importantly, the original hangtag! I knew it was dirty, but it ended up being a lot dirtier/broken than I realized! Besides the outer layer of dirt, it was full of eraser shavings, the right carriage release lever was bent and not functioning, and so was the backspace key.

Ahh…that’s getting better!

I still need to find some key top replacements for the shift keys and the N key, which has a hole seemingly burnt through it. But everything is fully functional now and most of the dirt and grime is gone. I’ll still do one last round of cleaning once I get the keys taken care of.
